2020.06.12 04:43 hideout78 South Carolina/Georgia border - June 11

Coronavirus cases are spiking. SC has posted records on 7 of the last 13 days. Average cases per day had been 150-250. Record days have been 400s, 500s. Today was 687.
SC Governor has stated that there’s “a lot of stupid out there” and we all need to be personally responsible. No plans for any shutdowns.
Government and healthcare leaders pleading for people to take the threat seriously. This is out of Greenville. An area designated as a hotspot by the state department of health.
Cases have been relatively flat in Georgia, although they were above average today. No one can explain it. Lots of rumors that they’re cooking the numbers.
COVID hospitalizations have been very small but are starting to spike in SC and GA.
Gas $1.80. Diesel $1.90
Supplies -
TP is available nearly everywhere. Plentiful in most locations.
Clorox wipes hit or miss. Usually not available.
Hand sanitizer is showing back up. Hit or miss.
Lots of train traffic.
Lots of people still buying/selling livestock on FB groups.
Livestock feed plentiful.
Social distancing is nearly non-existent. Store traffic back to pre-lockdown levels. Mask usage % in single digits. Mask usage is very political around here. Reports of mask wearers being harassed.
Lots of reports of restaurants and businesses closing temporarily because of employees testing positive for COVID.
Had an appt with my PCP. She says nearly all her appts are anxiety related or seeking notes to get out of work.
Hospitals have begun allowing 1 visitor per patient.
Elective hospital volumes near pre-lockdown levels. Some are above as they’re playing catch-up.
Hospitals are using “home brewed” hand sanitizer.
Store hours are close to what they were pre-lockdown.
Strangely enough, ovens are hard to get at the moment. None available until July.
Freezers are popping up on Craigslist again. Going rate is still way above normal.
Social unrest is gone for now. Protests are sporadic but peaceful. Protests in Columbia were violent when they were occurring.
4 shootings last night in the small town closest to me. Shootings are very unusual in that town. They have been on the rise for sure. Shootings last night appeared to be random and by one person. Almost as if they were driving around town and shooting random people. 2 people dead.
Edit - this is a good one. My wife sources some items out of China. Leading up to their Chinese New Year, they were running a bunch of sales. After Chinese New Year was over, she reached back out to her contacts over there. She got - “we’re still on holiday” 1, 2, 4 weeks after Chinese New Year was over. That coincided with their lockdown. She got a notice from them today, out of the blue, that they are going on “holiday” again. There are no Chinese holidays on the calendar anywhere in the near future.
Edit 2 - run on firearms. Called PSA to see about going up there tonight. They got a shipment of ARs in this am. They said don’t bother. They’re almost gone and it’s a 30min wait. They did say they have bulk 5.56.

2020.01.27 00:42 atlantabrave10 Do "bandit sign"-style posts work on Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace?

I have noticed that there are thousands of "bandit sign" style posts saying "We Buy Houses" or something similar on Craigslist. I love the bandit sign business model, but frankly I am just way too lazy (or maybe just sketched out) to actually go around putting them on street corners.
I am curious to know if anyone has had any luck doing this digitally? I am also wondering if websites or even Facebook ads would be effective for finding off-market deals. Has anyone tried this? Below is an example of what I am talking about

2019.08.22 02:28 turnupthebassto11 How can I take legal action against someone who has scammed me through Craigslist?

I had a $1k LG UltraGear 21:9 G-Sync display for sale because I ordered the Freesync version and I was sent the wrong one. It was also the last one in stock so the only option was a refund instead of exchange so I decided to try my luck posting on Craigslist to trade for a Freesync display and anything else to equal value.

A guy texted me with a pretty reasonable deal, 27" Freesync 144hz 1440p display (~$300 used) and a MSI RTX 2080 Gaming X Trio (~$700 used on Amazon). The offer sounded fair and nothing far fetched or "too good to be true". We arranged to meet at my place to test everything and everything seemed to work. Later that evening on the first day the display just went black and wouldn't come back on for about 3-5 minutes and I immediately text back that there's something wrong with the monitor, please contact me as soon as possible. I did some research and found out that the monitor had very documented history of this issue so I took screenshots to show him. The next day he did contact me back and after denying any knowledge of the issue offered to exchange the monitor for a 32" LG Ultra Gear G-Sync monitor and since the whole point of the trade was to have a matching monitor + video card with adaptive refresh he offered to trade his 1070 ti for my 5700 XT. I really wanted to keep my 5700 XT because I had literally just bought it with the Ultrawide but eventually agreed as he kept saying ultimately I'm getting the better bargain out of the whole deal and agreed to meet the next day at his place in Columbia, SC since he works at the Army base nearby. the next day I had to leave for Florida for something that came up and I messaged that I wouldn't be able to meet and to call me when he was free to make plans for when I return. At that point all communication has ended and all my phone calls are sent immediately to voicemail.

When he came to my house he arrived in his military uniform and for some reason I had memorized his name on his uniform and was able to find his Facebook. I also know he works at the Army National Guard near Columbia, SC. Is there any way I can escalate this legally as I feel as though I have been robbed. Could I report what he's done to someone on base? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: Information I have of the person: Full name, Phone Number, Place of Employment, Facebook Profile

TICKETS GO ON SALE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC ON JULY 1ST AT 10 AM LOCAL TIME. You can get tickets on TicketMaster, LiveNation and the venue’s official website. There are presales on 6/26 and 6/28, read more about those below. I highly recommend looking up your specific show and checking when and where they’ll be on sale, just in case it differs.
Although it appears prices do vary venue to venue, the range is pretty similar across the board. At my venue, the cheapest tickets were the upper levels, they cost $39.95-$80. The lower levels were $100-$160, floor was $160-$200. These are just regular tickets (not VIP) and these prices are BEFORE taxes and fees. Fees vary venue to venue. You can purchase tickets from LiveNation, TicketMaster or [usually] directly from the venue per their website or box office.
Here is the website for VIP tickets. On the right hand side is a breakdown of what is included in each package. As you can see the new tour dates are listed as “coming soon!” VIP packages will be available during the TicketMaster presale. VIP also go on sale at the same time as general public. According to @grandetournews, most of the VIP packages sell during the presale and a few are reserved for the general public sale. There are a few VIP packages. The meet and greet package that comes with a ticket and is around $1000+ (if anyone has purchased one, please let us know how much it cost, if you don’t mind!) The meet and greet package WITHOUT a ticket is $799, and you have to purchase a ticket separately. I can’t find exact prices for the two sound check packages, but there is one that comes with a GA pit ticket and one with a reserved seat ticket. Hopefully I can edit this post with more info regarding VIP prices and procedures!
For the last North American legs of Ariana’s tour, she teamed up with T-Mobile to offer T-Mobile customers pit tickets. Note, it has NOT been announced yet whether they’ll be teaming up again for the new North American dates, but it seems likely. The price was $245 per ticket before taxes and fees. T-Mobile tickets go on sale 30 days before each show. You need a special code to access the T-Mobile sale, and you do need to be a T-Mobile customer to get a code. HOWEVER, you do not need to be a T-Mobile customer in order to use the tickets. You want to redeem your sale code 1-3 days before the sale, as the codes expire 5 days after you get it. When the time comes to get your code, go to this website this website and type in your T-Mobile phone number. You will then get a text with a pin number. Enter the pin number on the screen and you will be given a special code. On the day of the sale, go to whatever website is hosting the sale (for most venues it’s TicketMaster, for my venue in Philly, it was the venue’s website) and look for a button that says “T-MOBILE SALE” “T-MOBILE OFFER” or something along those lines. You’ll then be prompted to enter your special code which will unlock the sale. You can purchase a maximum of four tickets. If they say they’re sold out, keep trying for at least 15 minutes!
One way to purchase tickets before the general public is through the American Express presale. You need to be an AmEx card holder in order to access the sale and you must use that card to purchase the tickets. Only a small amount of tickets are set aside for AmEx presale so if you don’t get tickets or the seats you want, I recommend trying again for the general public sale! AmEx presale is set for Wednesday 6/26 at 10 AM local time.
LiveNation presale begins June 28 at 10 AM. You just need a LiveNation/TicketMaster account to access. Presale code is: GROOVE.
Resale tickets can be purchased through TicketMaster for most shows. Some reputable resale websites are StubHub, Vivid Seats, and SeatGeek. I highly advise against buying tickets from anyone on CraigsList and/or your show’s FaceBook page. VIP tickets can not be resold or transferred, so do not buy those.
-Make sure whatever device(s) you plan to use are charged and your internet is running smoothly
-Have a tab open early so you are on the website right at 10 AM (for example) on the dot
-If your purchase requires a “code,” have it copied ahead of time so you can just paste it when needed
-Have your credit card handy or have the information stored in your account for quick check out
-Have a friend try for tickets too!
At the SWT, the stage has a runway that creates a half circle, with the pit area being contained within that half circle. The pit is also split in half down the center by barricades and there is a small stage where Ariana occasionally runs trough and performs. On one side of the split is the VIP pit. Anyone who purchases a GA VIP ticket will be on that side. On the other side of the split is the T-Mobile pit. Anyone who purchases a T-Mobile ticket will be on that side. Here is a good photo of the stage.
Awhile ago when Ari released some Sweetener merch on her website, she also released the “Sweetener Pass.” The pass cost $10 and offered “additional perks” for anyone attending the SWT. The “perk” is that there will be a separate line for anyone with a Sweetener Pass and they will be let into the venue first, and therefore will have an advantage at getting merch or getting a good spot in the pit. However since the tour started, there have been conflicting reports about how effective the passes were. As far as I know, Sweetener Pass holders do not get in the door “early,” however when the doors open, the staff is supposed to let in the Sweetener Pass line before anyone else. In reality, the pass holders get just a few minutes to their advantage. Some concert goers reported that there wasn’t even a Sweetener Pass line in their city! There was previously a rumor that Sweetener Pass holders got in the venue two hours early–that is NOT true and I strongly advise against paying $100s for a pass!
-T-shirts: $40
-SweeteneTUN Duo Shirt: $50
-Sweatshirts: $65
-Long sleeve shirts: $55
-Hoodies: $75
-Hats: $40
-Posters: $20
-Sweatpants: $40 Apparently the sweatpants have been $70-80 according to concert goers!
Here are photos of the merch and all the prices for different countries.
-Keep in mind that merch has/does/can sell out.
-The merch stands will be open when the show ends.
-Know what you want ahead of time!
-Bring cash! A lot of times merch stands have a line specifically for people with cash because it’s faster than credit card transactions.
-Not all tables will have every piece of merch, so be sure you’re standing in line for the merch you want to get. At my show in Boston the merch was split across stations. I ended up wasting time in one line because I didn’t realize that table didn’t have the hoodie I wanted.
-You can try on the shirts and hoodies over your clothes before you buy, so make sure you’re getting the right size. You likely won’t be able to easily exchange once you leave the line. I found that the hoodies ran a size small and was really glad I tried it on first.
-Get there early! According to what I’ve read here and on Twitter, if you are in line when the doors open, you should get a spot along the barricade.
-Grab a water bottle, a snack, a beer, whatever when you get inside the venue and bring it to the pit. You probably won’t want to leave the pit once you’ve gotten your spot!
-Consider wearing high shoes if you’re short! They don’t need to be traditional heels of course, there are lots of cute platform sneakers and sandals that give height and are more comfortable! I’m 5’2” and honestly didn’t have much of a problem, I wore short block heels and had a great view!
-If you see Joan or anyone standing between the barricade and the runway, please do not draw attention to them! At my show Joan came out for thank u, next and was escorted away when too many people tried to get her to take selfies. Calmly waving is cool, begging for selfies or relentlessly calling their names while they’re just trying to enjoy the show is not.
The schedule for most of the shows is doors at 7, show starts at 8.
Social house: 8-8:20
Normani: 8:30-9
Ari: 9:30-11ish
This of course varies depending what time your show starts. Make sure to check what time your show is!
Per Ariana’s bag policy on TicketMaster’s website, all fans may carry ONE bag that must be CLEAR and fall under 12” x 6” x 12”. All items inside must be clearly visible and cannot be stored inside of additional bags. This means that you cannot bring wallets, change purses, makeup bags, etc. All items must be individually placed in the clear bag, including cash, IDs or credit cards. Exceptions will be made for medically necessary items. If you don’t plan on purchasing a new clear bag for the event, ziplock bags work great and are allowed! As far as I know, portable chargers are allowed, cameras are NOT. (Cell phone cameras are allowed of course!)
I’ve seen some comments saying the security at their show let them have wallets, etc., in which case the security is NOT following the policy Ariana and her team created to ensure our safety. PLEASE follow the bag policy to a tee so everyone will be safe and check in will be smooth. I was forced to throw out my wallet because I didn’t fully read the policy beforehand! It’s not worth the extra hassle, just follow the rules :)
If you’re looking for some Ariana merch to wear to the show, H&M has a few t shirts and so does Hot Topic. I do not recommend buying from Ariana’s online store with a future date in mind, there’s a chance it won’t come in time. If you’re looking for a signature Ariana pony, this is a really good one! Most people at the show I went to were dressed as Ariana. Tons of thigh high boots, platform shoes, oversized sweaters, off the shoulder jackets, huge ponytails, etc. I definitely see concerts an excuse to go crazy and wear something I normally wouldn’t. Have fun and be confident!

Some conflicting info i’m seeing:

-According to @grandetournews, this time around there won’t be a meet and greet package that comes WITHOUT a ticket. The only meet and greet packages they are selling will come with a ticket. This is contrary to what I’m seeing in the comments here, but it does match the package descriptions on the website.
-There will be no meet and greet upgrades this time around–just the packages.
-Also seeing conflicting things about the LiveNation and TicketMaster presales. I highly recommend having an account and being logged in if you plan on accessing either of those presales. I am still working on figuring out what codes are required, but as far as I know GROOVE is the code for LiveNation. BIRTHDAY is the code for the “artist presale.” I’ll update if I can confirm more info!
Edited with more information from comments :)

2018.08.20 17:38 skitztobotch WTS pedals (Caroline, Bondi, ZVex, others)

Moving soon so I'm trying to clear out some things I haven't been using as much. All prices are PPG shipped in con US. I've included pics on a few items but let me know if you want pics of anything else.
Caroline Olympia "White Russian" edition - not 100% the difference between this and a regular Olympia, but I believe it has intentionally mismatched Ge/Si diodes for a Russian Big Muff type sound. Artwork was done by Columbia, SC artist Ansley Green, this is the only one like this. There are a few chips on the paint but it's in otherwise good condition. $200
Caroline Parabola pre-order edition - Awesome pedal and the drive circuit is great, but I just got a Spaceman Voyager so I'm pretty sure I'll never need another trem. $220
Bondi Sick As mk1 - how many pedals is it gonna take for me to learn I'm not a klon guy...$240
ZVex Instant LoFi Junky - if you don't care about the paint job, this is a good chance to grab a discounted ILFJ. $160
JPTR FX ROYGBIV - interesting chorus-ish pedal from a dude in Germany. I don't have a picture of it but it's in great condition. Barely used, I just like my Gen Loss better. $200
EHX headphone amp - useful little tool, but I'm just using a mixer for this these days. $40
If you're around Boston, I also have a Music Man 112 RD Sixty Five I'm trying to sell. $450

2018.07.08 22:50 newpath65 Moving to Las Vegas from South Carolina and need advice

I'm a 25 year old single male (no kids) and looking to move to Las Vegas in a couple months. I currently live in Columbia SC. I'm looking to have a job lined up and a roommate before I move to Vegas. Currently I work in a warehouse/production industry and make around $14.00 per hour and have a take home of $1700 per month. I'm looking to make at least $2,000 per month after taxes when I move to vegas and I'm guessing it will be no big deal - as there are many warehouse/production and 60 hour per week labor jobs everywhere. I have $3,000 saved up and understand it is important to have as much saved up as possible. I do website design on the side but do not make much money from it. I just keep progressing.
My plan is:
  1. Around 3 months from now have a job lined up in Las Vegas making at least $2,000 per month after taxes.
  2. Around 3 months from now have a room-mate situation lined up that is less then $500 per month.
  3. Drive out there.
I will definitely not be staying in the middle of downtown Vegas. So I'm guessing any city near by Vegas. North Las Vegas, Henderson (second largest city in Nevada), Paradise, Winchester. I really don't know.
Can anyone give me advice on the best city for me? And is there any other advice you can give me?
I would like the city to have some sort of public bus transportation. I don't care about safety or living in areas that are rough as I already live in a rough area currently. I looked on craigslist and have found a couple dozen roommate needed ads on craigslist for las vegas area - many of them $300 -$500 per month.

2018.04.02 04:57 wwabigchocolate Thoughts on this bike

Your level of experience with cycling: Novice - typically ride a friends road bike 6-8 miles.
What's your price range, and have you considered second hand? Second hand 100% and around 350 dollars
What's your intention with the bike? Would like to use it for exercise and commuting between 8-15 miles each way
How far will you be riding, and how often? Commute 8 miles, exercise up to 15. Each way
Riding conditions: Roads, its hot and humid here with no much rain.
Your location (even approximate) can help other locals familiar with your conditions, too. I live in downtown Columbia, SC and would like to purchase second hand, links on facebook marketplace or craiglist would be greatly appreciated or any other website that is frequently used for this, i am a novice.
Thank you all so much for your time
I was curious if this 58 cm frame is the correct size and what is a good price for me to pay for it(reasonable) obviously free would be great...

I'm looking to get my first set of floor standing speakers, and I don't super know what to look for. Any advice? I'm shopping around the Columbia, SC craigslist if you have any other advice on other speakers you spot. Thanks!

2017.03.13 19:23 Beardchester Missing in Georgia #7: Morgan Arryn Bauer

This is the seventh entry in the Missing in Georgia series highlighting missing persons cases in the state of Georgia. Every Monday I will be posting a different case from Georgia's Charley Project page. I will move on to the unidentified after I make it through the missing. Last week's case can be found here:
I remember this case unfolding. It was reported on the news, but it didn't really blow up as a major media story if that makes sense. I remember there was a lot of confusion because multiple people reported that Morgan was just fine and laying low from her family. A lot of people didn't know what to think. Her information was uploaded to Charley Project on March 6th, 2017.
Morgan was last seen on February 27th, 2016. She was born on April 13th, 1996 (19 y.o. at the time of her disappearance) She is 5'6 and 130 lbs. She has gauges in her ears, a twice pierced lip, and a pierced navel. She has tattoos of a sun and moon inside a Celtic 4 pointed star, an anchor with the phrase "Whatever you love can be taken away, so live like its your dying day," a blue and orange jellyfish, a black tree of life with tiny flowers, and "it's in herself she will find the strength she needs." Photos of four of the tattoos can be found on the charley project page.
Morgan rode with a friend from Aberdeen to Minnesota and then hopped on a flight to Atlanta. She arrived in the city on February 12. She stayed one night with a man she met on craigslist. He kicked her out and she moved to a hotel. Though she had food serving experience, she worked for a week as an exotic dancer in Gainesville, GA before returning to Atlanta. She applied for a job at the Tease strip club on Cheshire Bridge Road, but was turned away because she didn't have proper paperwork. She is an active social media user and kept in contact with friends back in South Dakota, but her social media and contact activity stopped on February 25th. She was last seen in the early morning hours of February 27th at a Citgo gas station in the 3200 block of highway 278(Covingon Highway) in Covington, GA.
The circumstances of his disappearance are unclear and the authorities have seen no indications of foul play, though her family is concerned by her lack of contact and fear she could be in danger. She may still be in the Atlanta metropolitan area.
Is Morgan laying low somewhere or did something malicious happen to her? Could she have been murdered or sold into human trafficking? Do you have a different theory? What do you think?
(Like I mentioned before, I vividly remember this case unfolding in the news and the ensuing confusion. Claims of her being safe abounded, but nothing concrete has been confirmed. She very well could be living off the radar, trying to build a life in Georgia. The abrupt cessation of social media posts and contact with friends seems like bad news though. I think another possibility is that she moved to find other opportunities. Florida is a popular destination for runaways and the Atlanta airport is busy and well connected. Living in Atlanta can be tough financially, she could have moved elsewhere to find more lucrative opportunities after failing to find stable employment inside or outside the perimeter. Lastly, a young girl alone, trying to find work as an exotic dancer, low on money, confidant enough to move in with a man from craigslist, in a city considered to be a hub for drugs and human trafficking. I'm afraid she would have been a tempting target for criminals. I hope the right answers are found soon.)
Note on the Locations: There are a few locations involved here. I'll try to cover each one. Atlanta: Big city, nebulous boundaries, lots of places to lay low, lots of travel options, a decent amount of adult entertainment venues. Considered to be a major drug and human trafficking hub due to the airport, highways, and its physical location. Gainesville is a city located north of the city on Lake Lanier. Some might consider it an Atlanta suburb, but I personally do not. I would say it is just outside of "suburbia." Gainesville just has a different vibe. It has a lot of poultry plants and the lake is a popular destination spot for many Georgians. I would classify it as a "medium-large" city (pop 33,533 [2013]) It is also somewhat of a last "major" stop before getting into the North Georgia Mountains area. I wouldn't peg it as a place to have a successful dancing career. I feel like Atlanta or some of her suburbs would have better opportunities for that line of work. I wonder why she went out that far? Covington is a smaller city east/southeast of Atlanta. I wouldn't consider it a suburb. It is east of Conyers. Though I have been there a few times and passsed it many times, I don't know much about local culture. Someone else might have more insight on it. Covington lies on I-20, a major east-west interstate. To the west it stretches out through Birmigham, AL, Jackson, MS, Shreveport, LA, and Dallas, TX before ending in western Texas. To the east it goes through Augusta, Ga and Columbia, SC before terminating in Florence, SC where it intersects 95. 95 appears to be a corridor extending all the way up the eastern seaboard. Could Morgan have been headed that way? If she didn't have a car, I wonder how she got out to places like Gainesville and Covington.
As always, I am open to suggestions on how to make these posts better.
Thank you,

2016.12.31 20:28 autopornbot Buying a used vehicle from "Cash 4 Cars"? Possible scam?

I found a nice 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee for sale on craigslist:
It seems like a very good deal. In one photo, there is a truck with a trailer on it, and the truck has a sticker that says "Cash 4 Cars" and a phone #.
I googled the phone # listed in the ad and found several more cars for sale on various sites. The photos do seem to be in the same location, so the cars are really there and for sale. I can't find any info online about this specific "Cash 4 Cars" business, may not be the actual title of the business.
It makes me wary - especially since all the cars say they have no problems. But it also could be a mechanic who buys vehicles, fixes any issues, and flips them.
Here are some more listings that have the same phone number:
The prices do seem on the low side, but not so low that it just screams scam.
Should I avoid this guy completely? Or is this a legit business that just flips cars? If I do talk to the guy, how can I protect myself from getting scammed?
To check for a lien in SC, you have to submit a form to the DMV, or be a business with a paid subscription to the title search. Titles should say if there's a lien. Titles should say if it's a salvage. But for all I know, there's a way to fake it or something.

2016.09.05 18:35 tommy_pickles90 Another person jumping into the cleaning business

Hey guys,
Long time lurker and first time poster. I've followed this sub for quite some time now and last week decided to take the plunge and see what I can do. I will be able to work on this business full time and I really REALLY want this to work and I believe it will work. I'm not coming into this with rose tinted glasses thinking that I can put in 2 or 3 hours a day and after awhile I'm just going to have more customers than I know how to deal with. I notice that in this sub there are only a handful of people who are actually making money and have a viable business and the rest are people who came in with a lot of excitement but then suddenly disappear (most likely because it was way harder than they were expecting). It's going to be a grind and it's going to be difficult but I'm prepared for it because for me it's not about the money. I want the freedom. I did budgeting for IHG for a few years and it's just not for me. Working for someone else and being told when I can and cannot do something until retirement is not LIVING to me. I plan on being here a lot and asking a million questions and I hope that some of the seasoned vets out there are willing to guide me along the road to success. Anyways, enough rambling. Let's get down to business.
For a little background I'm in Columbia, SC and we do not have the huge populations like most of you guys even though it's the state capital. I've got about 150,000 individuals to work with which I still think is plenty. The only major players in the area are Molly Maids and Merry Maids which are carbon copies of each other. I'm sure most of you are familiar with Molly Maids since they are everywhere. So far I have my LLC created, domain name and web hosting, logo, and business account. I plan on using launch27 and one of the themestreet themes. I am not a web developer by any means so I'm more than happy to pay so I can focus on what I'm good at.
I figured that I needed to start looking for cleaners really early so that I can really vet people out and have 2 cleaners that I really trust and that believe and understand the vision. I am so glad that I did. I don't think CraigsList is going to be the answer for my location because the applications I have received range from bad to terribad. What were some other avenues you guys used to find quality cleaners? has a lot of good independent cleaners that are in my area so I'm thinking about biting the bullet and paying for a 1 month membership so that I can message them directly and pitch to them. Hopefully this will work better and I'll report back with results.
As I said I see that there are people in this sub that really are making it work and growing a viable business and I hope to connect with you guys through here and pick up some mentors along the way. I also want people to be able to follow my progress and see what I did to succeed or what I did wrong that caused me to fail (fingers crossed this isn't the case).

2016.06.27 05:46 NO_DOWNVOTES_ALLOWED How is graduate student housing?

I am a fourth year math major at UBC who is considering SFU for a M.Sc. in mathematics. At this point, I am 95% sure that I will be going to SFU and already have a supervisor lined up.
I have a few questions about the graduate residence: Hamilton Hall.
I would be very grateful if somebody who is currently residing in Hamilton Hall could respond.

2016.01.18 05:40 CallieCatsup Any ideas on where I can post a rental house locally?

Due to finding a job in Charleston, I'm breaking my lease and trying to find someone to rent my house so I'm not on the hook for rent until June. Currently I have it posted on Craigslist and Postlets, which crossposts to Zillow, Trulia, and some other similar sites. We've only gotten a few calls in the last month, and most of them weren't serious. I'm not from Columbia originally, do you all know if there is a local site that I can post to where it might get better visibility? The house is within walking distance to the U of SC Medical School and the VA, and it's also very close to Ft. Jackson, so I'd like to advertise to people there that might need a place. Does anyone know of any message boards? Here is the listing:

2015.08.28 06:44 truckknownothing Pricing trucks in the middle of nowhere

My story is a sob story, and I hate those. So we'll keep it short and simple.
I'm not twenty yet, I've got my family to take care of and after trying luck 10 states away, my mother wants to go back to our home state. Abandoned by my father figures twice over, I know nothing about the pricing of vehicles and the vehicles themselves.
Betrayed by the people that called themselves family and promised us thriving and prosperity here, miles away from home, I trust no one.
All's I know is that I've got about 4000 thousand dollars and I want a toyota as our fail safe vehicle. (Previously a Chevy.)
but after being disillusioned by several town hicks and shitty people, I have no idea where to go and where to start.
I have a mechanic friend, and so far, we've only been fucked over by ridiculous prices and greedy pieces of shit.
I don't even know if this man will fuck me over either.
So far this is my only recent lead.
Toyota 1998 Tacoma, 267 thousand miles
5500 dollars? Jesus christ.
Does anyone know any other way of pricing things rather than using kelly blue book?
I live in cayce, SC

2015.08.26 16:47 Fenrir51 Cockatiels need a new home

I have a pair of female cockatiels that are a couple of years old. They are in a nice rod iron cage that's big enough to hold conures. I want to find them a good home and do not want to resort to craigslist. I will let them go for free if I am sure they will be taken care of.
The youngest was tame once and I think if time was spent with her she could be tame again. The oldest was never tame and once nothing to do with people unfortunately. The birds were my late wife's but I have zero time for them and I feel they are getting neglected for attention. If this post isn't allowed please delete it mods. I am in Columbia SC and will post pictures if anyone is interested.

2015.03.17 00:46 1992g92 Is this legal/do I have any recourse?

Three weeks ago, I posted on craigslist asking for a motorcycle mechanic. My motorcycle had shut down on me in a parking lot and I didn't want it sitting their for too long and I wanted it to be fixed cheaply, thus the CL post. So a CL guy comes out and gets it running, but it's running like crap so he rides it out to his place to work on it for a few days. He kept me up to date on repairs until two weeks ago. At that time, I report it stolen. The police track him and the bike down. He had ridden the bike out about 15 miles from his place one day when he snapped the throttle cable, so he called a tow company and had them store it their. During this time, I didn't know the bike was stolen and so did not report it as such, thus the tow company ran the plates and VIN and it didn't come back stolen. Finally, three weeks after it had been towed and stored, the police find it and let me know. I get in contact with the tow company and they want me to pay $600 in storage fees to get my bike back. They REFUSE to budge, and it is money I don't have. On top of that, it goes up by $20 a day. So my question is, if the owner of the motorcycle (me) did not request or know of this "service" (tow and storage), but instead it was ordered by someone else (the thief), how can it be legal for them to basically hold the bike for ransom? I mean, the bike was stolen, thankfully found, and yet I can't have it back. I am going to lose the bike and they are going to get it for 100% free. I desperately need it for transportation around university, and yet they don't care at all. What's the legality of this? I am located in Columbia, SC.

2015.02.18 04:46 Stoane Just getting into Fixies.

So I am having car troubles as of late, and luckily for me most of my commute is within reason whether that be walking or riding a bicycle. I used to be big into bicycling when I was younger, but it sorta dwindled away once I got said automobile that got me into my current situation. So i'm looking to get back into the hobby, for exercise and having a method of transportation, but I have never owned a fixed gear bike and am having a few questions. My biggest concern, which I imagine is many of peoples, is braking. I have watched videos and read countless tips/tricks/etc, but for the life of me I am still somewhat confused. I see some fixed gear bikes (this is the same as a 'road' bike, please correct me if i'm wrong) with a front and/or rear brake, which seems better to me as I would feel more comfortable with having an actual breaking method. So what is your best bet method of braking while riding your fixie? After that, since I've only owned BMX and mountain (gear) bikes my entire life, is a fixed gear really for me? My father has owned plenty and loved them, but I have not so I am a little skeptical. The farthest ride I face on a 6/7 day basis is work, it is exactly 2.7 miles from my house but a very hilly ride to and from work. Which brings me back to the concerns of braking. Lastly I will show you a few bikes I've been looking at and can hopefully get some feedback. Unfortunately, and surprisingly I am from a college town, my local craigslist is lacking in the bicycle department but I found this and have been contacting the owner and he has been very helpful with answering questions. But unfortunately I am part of said college town and don't have tons of money to dish out for said bike, so this is right around my spending limit. Give or take.
So after craigslist and other classifieds failed me, I decided to go to my go to website and started looking at Amazon and found a few I am interested in, especially since they are priced better and most have actual reviews. This was my first stop, I wasn't too thrilled with the colors or the handlebar style but the price was very nice:
After that I ended up looking at these and was happy with the reviews, and once again the price:
So I noticed that they can be pretty damn cheap on Amazon, hell some of them were a 1/3 of the price of crap bikes I priced at big box stores like:
Though i'm not entirely sure that one fits under the fixie category, I am mostly just impressed by the price. But I know from future endeavors that buying the cheapest isn't always the best bet since you'll most likely be spending more in the end. So the one I found that aesthetically and price wise pleases me is:
But the reviews on Amazon are good, just literally only one. I am looking more into the company later on tonight but would love some feedback. Like I said I am completely new to the fixie bicycle style, have never ridden one and am interested and looking to get into it because of my situation. So if anyone here has some insight they are willing to share please feel free to help.
tl;dr: Car is messed up, was big into bikes before being car owner, wants to get back into bikes, especially into fixed geared bikes, although looking into getting whats best for my situation.
